Forgotten Bookmarks: A Bookseller’s Collection of Odd Things Lost Between the Pages
From actual bookmarks to photographs, ticket stubs, lists, scribbled recipes, children’s drawings, birth certificates, four-leaf-clovers, unsent love letters, and countless other funny, heartbreaking, and odd ephemera, this scrapbook of intriguing finds by a used bookstore owner Michael Popek opens a rare window into the private lives of anonymous strangers through snippets of their life stories.
I loved this scene because even though Tommy did his best not to let on to Kevin what he was about to do, Kevin sensed it in his brothers presence and he wasn’t going to let him go alone. Even though Kevin is definitely the most panicky of the bunch, there was no way in hell Tommy was doing this by himself. And Tommy who would never admit he was scared didn’t argue, because truth be told he didn’t want to do it alone. He just nodded and the two of them left together, not really knowing for certain if they’d make it back.
